Psychological Assessments
for Children and Adolescents
Assessments
We offer a psychological assessment only service for children and adolescents aged between 4 and 17 years. Our psychologists have extensive experience in conducting a broad range of psychological assessments, including: autism assessment, ADHD assessment, cognitive assessment (IQ test), behavioural assessment, and educational assessment for diagnosing specific learning disorders (SLD) such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia.
We have psychologist clinics located in Narre Warren and Frankston, which service suburbs within south-east Melbourne.
Psychological Assessments
A diagnosis is made by matching information gathered about the child's developmental history, current behaviour, and assessment results, to criteria outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - Fifth Edition - Text Revision (DSM-5-TR).
Assessments are conducted in a friendly, caring, and respectful manner. Reports are comprehensive, individualised, easy-to-read, and include practical recommendations to help the child at home and school.
Assessment Process
The assessment process typically involves the following four steps:
-
Parent Intake Interview:
Psychologist will gather information from the parent about the child's developmental history and current behaviours. -
Assessment:
Assessment will be conducted with the child in the clinic. The number of sessions will depend on the purpose of the assessment. -
Psychological Assessment Report
A comprehensive Psychological Assessment Report will be written by a psychologist. The report will include background information, assessment results, relevant diagnosis, and recommendations regarding supports that may help the child at home and school. -
Parent Feedback Session:
Psychologist will provide the parent with feedback regarding the assessment results and recommendations.
Assessment Tools
Psychology Assessment Services (PAS) have a large library of assessment tools, and can assess children and adolescents for a wide range of concerns. We use the most up-to-date 'Gold Standard' assessment tools.
